When Fluffy Stinks outside the Box, SERVPRO of Northeast Ontario/Kaiser Makes the Odors Disappear
Furry Four-legged Friends Forever
Dogs, cats, ferrets, and other furry friends provide companionship and entertainment, and while their lives are brief, we carry the memories of them throughout our lives.
If the memories were the only things that lingered on, Ontario residents might not need cleaning and odor-removal from SERVPRO® of Northeast Ontario/Kaiser.
For problems getting rid of persistent odors or damage from mammalian messes, call us at 909-390-0238.
Sources of Odor
No, it’s not always the obvious cause.
That said, urine and feces are pungent and persistent. Cat urine, especially, could be a weapon. For cats, ferrets, and other litter-box-using pets, empty the litter box every day.
Veterinarians recommend having one litter box for each cat, plus an extra just in case. The Number of Cats Plus 1 method is impractical in smaller spaces or for families with several cats. It’s not always helpful as cats don’t follow human plans.
For cats that insist on stinking outside the box, you know the routine:
- Have the veterinarian check the cat for illness
- Make sure the box is right for the cat
- Use whatever litter the cat likes best
Once the damage is done, it’s hard to undo. Urine can soak into the flooring and the walls, resulting in ruined flooring and drywall. Count on us to clean, disinfect, and restore the house and its contents.
Cat urine is concentrated and because of evaporation, becomes more concentrated over time. The odor particles spread throughout the home. We clean and disinfect all of the air vents, and have equipment to get rid of odors. We don‘t hide the odors; we eliminate them.
SERVPRO of Northeast Ontario/Kaiser has enormous amounts of training and oceans of experience remediating all kinds of biological hazards, and we routinely install carpet and other flooring, as well as install drywall, paint, and clean all kinds of upholstery.
The messes from other animals are no beds of roses either. If we can get rid of cat odors, we can get rid of any odors.
Other Causes
Mammals, even humans, have odors. Some breeds have more noticeable odors than others, and there are individual differences as well. Some dog breeds commonly have strong, musky odors, such as hounds (including bassets, beagles, bloodhounds).
Some of us live with dogs, and we’re always impressed at the canine eagerness to find something that smells horrible so they can roll in it. We’d like for our dogs to wear hazmat suits, but they won’t, so we have to subject them to baths.
Even so, once they bring the smells home, we have to work to remove them.
